1. Is There a BIS Licence for the Battery Itself?
Many sellers in India display a cell-level certificate from an overseas cell supplier and present it as though the finished battery is BIS certified. It is not the same thing. A BIS licence for a lithium battery covers the assembled product — cells, BMS, housing, wiring and protection circuits — tested as a complete unit under Indian standards.
Nexus / DEVSOL manufactures lithium battery packs. BIS coverage applies only to the certified 12V battery model; 25.6V and 51.2V models are not BIS certified. Match the exact nameplate to the certificate annex. Registration or renewal alone does not prove cycle life or certify every model in a range.
2. Is the Cycle Life Quoted with a Depth of Discharge?
A cycle life figure without a stated depth of discharge (DoD) is not a complete specification. A battery that delivers 4,500+ cycles at 50% DoD is not the same as one that delivers 4,500+ cycles at 90% DoD. The higher the DoD per cycle, the harder the battery works, and the fewer total cycles it can deliver at that depth.

3. What Is Inside the BMS?
The Battery Management System (BMS) is the internal circuit that protects the battery from overcharge, over-discharge, overheating and cell imbalance. Not all BMS units are the same.
- Active balancing — continuously redistributes energy between cells during charge and discharge, keeping all cells at equal voltage. This extends usable capacity and cycle life.
- Passive balancing — only bleeds off excess energy from higher-voltage cells as heat during charging. It is simpler and cheaper but less effective.
Devsol lithium batteries use smart BMS with active balancing, temperature sensors, and cycle-count display on display models. Up to 16 units can be connected in parallel for higher capacity.
4. How Long Is the Warranty, Really?
For DEVSOL Premium models offered with 15-year* terms, covered manufacturing faults have free replacement in years 1–3. Years 4–15 provide replacement at a 50% discount on MRP, subject to the written policy. This is not 15 years of free replacement or a verified longest-in-India claim. Separate 5-year models retain their own applicable terms.

5. Who Takes the Battery Back at End of Life?
Lithium batteries contain materials that must be recycled or disposed of responsibly. In India, producers of lithium batteries are required to register under CPCB Battery Waste Management rules.

This is an environmental compliance registration — it confirms the company is registered as a producer responsible for end-of-life battery management. It is not a product safety certificate and should not be presented as one.

For a 200Ah configuration with a 200A BMS, the continuous discharge limit is 200A and the recommended 0.5C discharge is 100A. This configuration statement does not establish that a 200Ah retail model is currently available. Ah describes stored charge; A describes current. The BMS ceiling is not the recommended everyday load.
LCD-equipped models provide a cycle counter, individual cell-voltage readings and temperature readings. Smart BMS protection includes temperature monitoring and cell balancing. Active or passive balancing depends on the installed variant; Pro features must be checked against its exact product specification. Eco and 4S models have no LCD or parallel feature. Use an approved matched-pack expansion arrangement, wiring, current protection and commissioning procedure.
Supported inverter configurations include Nexus and DEVSOL, and supported Deye and Voltronic protocol configurations. Match the exact inverter model, voltage range, protocol, cable pinout and firmware. A protocol family or CAN/RS485 connector alone is not universal compatibility.
At nominal voltage and an illustrative 90% inverter efficiency, recommended 50A discharge corresponds to about 0.58kW AC at 12.8V, 1.15kW at 25.6V and 2.30kW at 51.2V. At the 100A ceiling these illustrative values double. Actual permissible load falls with battery voltage and depends on inverter limits. A single 51.2V 100Ah pack must not be promised to provide continuous 5kW AC: even at nominal voltage this requires approximately 109A at 90% efficiency.
